what are you deinterlacing with?
i have found in my own experience *so many* programs cannot get it right.
either they believe the field order in the metadata and cant re-correct if
it's wrong, or they (more typically) cannot change/keep up with when
the video changes interlace inner field ordering (due to, say, someone re-cutting/editing an interlaced source and their export not properly reconstructing a inverse telecine-able output.

i know the uploader -- and his pipeline AFAIK is pro-level equipment and no editing -- so a straight rip of the source. i could touch base w/ him with some of your thoughts if you're able to dig a little deeper?

oh, and BTW, you are talking about the MPEG2 format, right, not the (h.264) MPEG-4 derivative?

I double-checked the particular video mentioned above before posting. It's fine. Big DUH on my part. I had grabbed and loaded poorly-encoded movies from another section of the archive having nothing to do with FEDFLIX. I thought I had grabbed specific FEDFLIX files. Nope. The FEDFLIX files seem to check out great. I can remove pulldown and get clean frames.

Please excuse my pointless noise.
